While all is "God-breathed" and profitable, believers must categorize truths instead of viewing them as identical. Through the indwelling Spirit, Christians examine the Word for its specific value, similar to a CSI investigator. By training spiritual perception, believers move from basic milk to strong meat, learning to distinguish beneficial doctrine from legalism to produce much fruit.

Christian maturity involves applying the Holy Spirit’s power to fulfill the "new commandment" of loving fellow believers as Christ did, rather than following the Old Testament law. This is practically achieved by sacrificing one's "soulish life" - personal desires and physical provisions - to meet the needs and serve the spiritual growth of the church.

Bearing fruit is a spiritual gift already possessed by believers that must be activated by yielding to the Triune God rather than acting in one's own strength. As illustrated by Peter’s restoration in John 21, true love for Christ combines **rational self-sacrifice (agape) with purified emotional fondness, both of which are proven by current obedience rather than past feelings. This relationship engages the entire person - spirit, soul, and body - and is practically demonstrated by guarding Christ's commandments and nurturing the maturity of fellow believers.

While Old Testament figures like Daniel or David were devoted, the scriptures tell us that they were not "godly" in this specific sense because the indwelling power of God was not yet revealed. For the modern believer, godliness is described not as a passive possession but as an active, disciplined practice that requires training the mind to focus on spiritual realities. This process relies on the Holy Spirit’s strength and the promises of scripture rather than human effort or legalistic rule-following. By accessing this internal divine power, Christians can achieve victory over worldly desires and reflect God’s character in their daily lives. Ultimately, godliness is presented as a continual display of Christ’s life, making it a visible evidence of spiritual maturity.
